Dieting and Lean, different story same outcome

Whilst out with friends at dinner the other day the conversation turned to diets. Turned out that at our table of eight people five of them were on one sort of diet or another. As I listened to the conversation it became apparent that most had been on other diets before with varying degrees of initial success but after a while the initial weight was regained, sometimes with an extra kilo or two.

Now I don’t profess to have an expertise in this field although I have always wondered why, if any particular diet works, there are so many others?

Anyway back to the conversation and the point I am trying to make. Successful and sustained weight loss involves more than just the cutting back of ‘bad’ foods and eating more ‘good’ foods. Sure this will see you drop a few pounds in much the same way as generally eating less food would. Sustained weight loss requires a balanced approach of healthy eating and exercise – sustaining this effort requires a change in lifestyle and a commitment to continue with the changes even when things are hard, i.e. getting out of bed on a cold morning to go to the gym!

Now for sustainable Lean transformation replace the above and you get – Sustained improvement requires a balanced approach of problem identification and resolution, supported by a cultural change in management attitude. Sustaining this change requires leadership and commitment especially when things are hard.
